Blood Flow Restriction Training
Blood flow restriction training (BFRT) is a treatment technique that accelerates gains in muscle strength and size while using significantly less weight. In other words, heavy weightlifting without using the heavy weight. This allows for a speedier recovery while protecting your injury.
We use an FDA approved tourniquet, similar to a blood pressure cuff, pressurized to a specific measurement to intermittently occlude arterial and venous blood flow while at rest or exercising. Not only can BFR improve muscle growth, but it can also prevent loss of muscle in acute injuries simply by introducing occlusion at rest.
Compared to high intensity training, BFR low intensity training results in similar muscular adaptations via mechanical tension, muscle cell swelling, and metabolic stress. Our clinicians are trained in the application of this exciting modality that has been proven extensively through clinical trials to be a safe and effective treatment.
