Trigger Point Dry Needling

Trigger point dry needling (TPDN) is a highly effective technique utilized to treat a vast number of conditions. Tiny, monofilament needles release muscle tension and spasms with very little discomfort and very little time. At Rebound, we have multiple therapists certified in TPDN.

Dry needling is not traditional acupuncture. The two techniques are similar only in the utilization of similar equipment. TPDN is based in modern scientific studies concerning the interaction between the musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems in the human body. The insertion of a small needle causes an inhibition of your body’s nervous system reflex arc that is causing a spasm. In turn, this creates a normalized inflammatory response, improved blood flow and decreased pain.

Combined, all these factors lead to an improved and accelerated healing process by the body. Nearly any area of muscular tension in the body can be treated using this technique. This includes painful spasms in the neck, back, shoulders, arms, hips and legs. In addition to general muscle spasm, TPDN is especially effective for conditions such as tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, sciatica, migraines and tension headaches.
